Description
ALWAYS FAST!
The TroikaMAX is always our fastest option. The combination of a well balanced deep but wide outer rim, super slim aerofoil spokes and large dominating central lens deliver superb aerodynamics and handling across a wide range of Yaw.
With the trend now firmly with wider tyres the MAX boasts a generous 20mm inner tyre track and 27mm outer flaring to over 30mm at its maximum width accommodating 23mm-28mm tyres with the minimum amount of airflow separation. With tyre is fitted the overall outer rim profile becomes a well balanced aerodynamic shape managing airflow around the entire circumference. This together with the minimal surface area of the tapered spokes helps reduce the amount of wind buffering, a considerable factor in saving energy and maintaining race focus.
WHY SO WIDE?
When running tyres at their optimal pressures slight changes in width usually have little effect on rolling resistance itself but the lower running pressures of wider tyres do help soak up road vibration increasing rider comfort significantly. This can help in slowing the build up of fatigue especially in longer Time Trials and Mid/Long course Triathlon. Most rims will accept wider 25mm tyres in terms of function but the vast majority suffer an aerodynamic penalty. The TriokaMAX outer rim is designed to seat tyres from 23mm up to even 28mm while maintaining an efficient tyre to rim interface. The complete performance package!
DISCBRAKE DYNAMIC
The aerodynamic benefits of the TroikaMAX are especially effective when fitted to a discbrake bike as the central lenticular disc helps shield the brake rotor diverting airflow when approaching from the drive side as well as helping to clean air flowing over and around the rotor when approaching from the non drive side. The elimination of messy wide spoke lacing around the hub increases the open space between the rotor and the wheel itself improving airflow further. Avoid that discbrake aero penalty!
