Ergo Mantis & Trad Models

The Ergo Mantis Carbon Fibre arm rest models have been developed to accommodate riders who use the popular upright forearm or ‘Mantis’ Tribar position.  The majority of riders who visit the Wind Tunnel or undergo Aero specific track testing to improve their cda figure will adopt this position to some degree.   The optimum upward angle of the forearm will differ between riders due to influencing factors such as body shape and flexibility.  There’s no set rule to follow here.

Trad Carbon Fibre arm rest models are intended for a more traditional tribar position adopting a level forearm.  These models are available in a 195mm wide mono platform as well as regular individual arm rests for wider elbow positions.  These models have a semi-high sided ergonomic design so still maintain a safe and easy engagement but don’t have the raised back featured on the Ergo Mantis models.  Both options are universal but need to be drilled to suit fitments locations.  We recommend that Allen bolt holes are counter sunk to allow a more comfortable user fit.  Existing Allen bolts should be suitable for re-use.

Description

ERGO MANTIS models

The Ergo Mantis Carbon Fibre arm rest models have been developed to accommodate riders who use the popular upright forearm or ‘Mantis’ Tribar position.  The majority of riders who visit the Wind Tunnel or undergo Aero specific track testing to improve their cda figure will adopt this position to some degree.   The optimum upward angle of the forearm will differ between riders due to influencing factors such as body shape and flexibility.  There’s no set rule to follow here.

Once a rider adopts this position it becomes more comfortable to move the tribar arm rests right back to the elbow joint as opposed to under the forearm, with many riders actually preferring instead to perch the elbow in the middle of the arm rest.  This usually results in excessive unwanted ‘fore aft’ movement and a degree of instability.

Ergo Mantis arm rests securely hold a rider effortlessly locked into their most aerodynamic position.  This is possible through the clever ergonomic support design that wraps around the back of the elbow as well as the side allowing a greater focus to be placed on the race effort itself.   These rests also isolate the elbow joint from fore aft movement which even at a micro level is wasting energy and therefore compromising efficient power delivery.  A truly bio mechanic advantage never tapped until now.

We offer two variants of the Ergo Mantis –  A mono platform that measures 195mm at its maximum width for those with a very narrow optimised forearm position and regular individual arm rests for those adopting a wider position.  The mono platforms  one piece design also acts as a brace bar which further stabilises the cockpit, instability being something of an issue with tall stacked tribar setups.  For level set integrated cockpits we can supply a 20 degree Aluminium angled spacer to fit under the arm rest which can be further angle tuned with the addition of spacer washers.  Both arm rest options are universal but need to be drilled to suit fitment locations. We recommend that Allen bolt holes are counter sunk to allow a more comfortable user fit.  Existing Allen bolts should be re-used but longer bolts can be supplied on request if necessary when using the 20 Degree angled riser.
